Jill & Jessa Counting on Season 2, Episode 2 Recap

Season 2, Episode 2
August 30, 2016
Its Official

It wouldn’t be a Duggar episode without someone being in a courtship and we get to meet Jinger’s new courtship-mate Jeremy Vuolo, he is 29 (gasp 7 years her senior) and he is a former professional Soccer player from Texas. He now wants to become a Minister… how perfect! He is easy on the eyes and seems just as brainwashed as the rest of the clan! After the couple briefly discuss how they met on a Mission trip in South America and detailing their encounters and quick descent into being in love, Jinger and him make their courtship official and we instantly get to see Jinger sipping on that love juice and this girl is already drunk in love! The girl has some serious crazy eyes eyes when she is with her man, which is a trait you all may remember witnessing with Jill and Jessa in their courting days.

Side note these poor girls are so desperate to leave the Duggar house and seem to jump at the first man who shows interest. Luckily for Jinger, this guy is cute! There is something very sad about witnessing these girls enter into these courtships, they become classic co-dependent and clingy. They live on their phones and have to keep in constant contact with their lovers which is is borderline crazy. It’s like watching them fade into these love crazed teenagers, but the kicker is they will be married in less than a year and they are ADULTS. They do not seem ready for that kind of commitment. These girls literally have no experience with dating or relationships outside of their own family and fundie circle. I could go on and I have many opinions about their standards of courting. We will get into that in some later discussions.

Enough with them bedroom eyes, girl!

The newly courting couple join parents Jim Bob and Michelle and head on over to Casa de Seewald for some before dinner ice cream. Jinger asks Ben and Jessa for courting advice and their take on how long they should court before marriage. Jinger sits real close to Jeremy and is still tossing some crazy eyes. She says she has no appetite and gives Jeremy her ice cream. Jessa says Jinger is watching her waist line for her upcoming dress. MAJOR HINT towards their impending wedding. After ice cream they head off to video chat with Jill and Derick in South America. Jill tells them to put a rush on things and make it quick (the courtship) we all know that they dont do the wild thing before marriage so the advice of experienced sister Jill is another major hint to speed things up so they can have sexy time and of course in Duggar world get pregnant ASAP!

The Rugged Survival School!

Not to forget about the 50 other Duggar kids, the older kids’ embark on a trip to a Survivalist Wildnerness Camp in Southern Missouri. They all feel it would be a great idea to learn how to survive in the woods if they ever became stranded. I think it’s a ploy to impress their Dad or to show that they actually leave their house and are allowed to venture out without their parent’s constantly monitoring them. The kids ask to borrow their friends RV to make the trip down there. They meet with their Survival Guides and go over what is in store for them in the next few days. They flash to a clip of them saying “Theres a bear!” We have to stay tuned because this adventure spills over into the next episode. CLIFF HANGER

There you have it another Duggar is knocked up and one is set to be married in less than a year, apparently the older un-married kids’ are allowed to leave the Compound without mom and dad and we have to stay tuned because we will get to see it all unfold on TLC! I am not sure how I feel at this point.
I am happy another girl is escaping their role and life at their parent’s house, but they go from basically being sheltered children to married and popping out babies with no kind of real life experience in between. They go from serving their Dad to immediately serving their new husbands. Do we pity them? Or is this exactly what they want and are programmed to believe that this is the right way to be? What are your thoughts about these crazy courtships my Modern Topics friends?

Well that was the premiere! Did you guys get to watch the episode? Will you be following this series? I want to know what you all think about the Duggar Clan!

Thank you for taking the time to read my recap!

  1. Jennelle's next Endorsement Deal says:

I love this show, it’s like a train wreck I can’t turn away from and I don’t want to! I have to say that I feel TERRIBLE for the oldest Duggar girl, Jana, she’s almost 30 and still lives at home, and her twin brother for that matter. No real job, no real life! She just has to take on helping run this mad house.
Out of so many kids I swear one is bound to become a drug addict from the neglect and crazy standards placed on them as a child. I also would bet at least one will come out as gay, or hide it forever because they don’t believe in that. Still I can’t turn away!

  2. Danika says:

I totally agree. I feel for Jana the most. I wonder if they discourage her from leaving the nest so they dont lose a live in maid and nanny!!

I love the duggar series too. Not the parents. I feel like theyre cult leaders. The kids seem sweet!

    • Jennelle's next Endorsement Deal says:

To me it seems clear that they just don’t expect their kids to leave the nest until it’s time to get married. Can you imagine being almost 30 and not only living at home with your parents (because in todays world, that happens, I get it) but to share a room with siblings, some that are 15 years younger than you, or more? Don’t they want some private time?

  3. Danika says:

Yes! The whole pushing 30 and sharing a room with my younger siblings has zero appeal and I feel so bad for Jana!!

  4. I couldn’t resist commenting 🙂

  5. Krista says:
